checking in

I’m still here, but I’ve been ill for a couple of weeks. Now that I’m on the mend, I’ve been installing a new widget, hoping for to fix a problem with the display. It’s fixed now.

more on fry street

Since comments are rare on this blog, it’s nice to get any at all. But it’s particularly nice to get ones like the lovely essay left the other day by GBarksdale at one of my fry street posts from last April. You can read it here.

home again

The last three weeks have been a profoundly moving and valuable time for me, touring with my beloved around eastern Europe. We’ve just returned, and I need to decompress before I try to sort out impressions, but here’s one anecdote.

As we were leaving the infamous building 11 at Auschwitz, a gentleman who spoke American loudly accosted several of us who were standing together with this message:

You know what this is, don’t you? This is the liberals trying to rewrite history!

Meanwhile, I’ve just discovered that my blog, about which hardly anybody knows, is rated R, not quite so good a rating as Fr. Bill Carrol’s NC-17. From now on I intend to pursue an unequivocal X rating with all the energy I can muster, and when I achieve it, I’ll certainly post the glad tidings. My present rating was earned by use of the words gay (5x), hell (2x), and hurt (1x). Here’s my badge, courtesy of an online dating website.
