{"id":313,"date":"2008-08-27T14:59:22","date_gmt":"2008-08-27T19:59:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/julianlong.net\/wordpress\/?p=313"},"modified":"2008-08-27T14:59:22","modified_gmt":"2008-08-27T19:59:22","slug":"obama-back-to-45","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/julianlong.net\/wordpress\/obama-back-to-45\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama back to 45%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gallup.com\/poll\/109873\/Gallup-Daily-Race-Still-Close-Obama-45-McCain-44.aspx\">Gallup polling analysis<\/a> puts Barack Obama one point ahead of John McCain on the basis of interviews conducted August 24-26 and seems to support the conviction that Obama still leads the race for the presidency while slso suggesting that McCain&#8217;s planned Friday announcement of his running mate may dampen Obama&#8217;s convention bounce.<\/p>\n<p>Polling also shows that Obama&#8217;s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gallup.com\/poll\/109846\/Conservative-Democrats-Peeling-Away-From-Obama.aspx\">support among conservative Democrats<\/a> is eroding. Perhaps one may hope that Joe Biden and the Clinton endorsement will help Obama here, particularly if the Clintons campaign actively for him. I&#8217;m of the opinion that Hillary&#8217;s endorsement was straightforward and that the subtext analysis of last night&#8217;s speech (which was the best speech I have ever heard her make) is getting <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2008\/08\/cbs_news_never_mind_what_hilla.php\">pretty silly<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Clinton&#8217;s speech tonight will pretty thoroughly upstage Biden, but Biden has signed on to be upstaged in agreeing to run for the vice presidency.
