McCain shatters the glass ceiling

In this morning’s Washington Post:

“It’s basically the equivalent of a midnight raid behind enemy lines,” said Juleanna R. Glover, a GOP strategist with ties to the McCain campaign. “Hillary said she made 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling. Well, McCain just shattered it.”

Interesting that it’s McCain who has shattered the glass ceiling and not Palin. And the raid-behind-enemy-lines metaphor is interesting too. It’s an idiosyncratic choice at best. McCain may get some short-term advantage from it; he’s getting plenty of attention now. But I doubt he’ll get any long-term help from this running mate.
