the author
I'm Julian Long, an educator retired from the University of North Texas, now living in St. Louis. My spouse is a professor of communication at Saint Louis University, where I presently teach an honors class called Great Books. The reading list is non-traditional and changes each year. That, plus the contact with young people, helps to keep me from dying. I'm also an Episcopalian, a former singing member of the Denton Bach Society, and the Bach Society of St. Louis, a poet, a member of Howard Rheingold's Brainstorms community, a father, and the guardian of two lovely midsize poodles. My beloved and I live in an old house in the South Grand area of St. Louis, not far from Tower Grove Park. I haven't measured to be sure, but it seems that we are about three miles from the Mississippi, though you can't get there as the crow flies. We have friends who live at Oaknoll, in Iowa City, and may move there ourselves one day before somebody makes us do it . . .
or maybe not.
